Update from Administrator – December 3, 2020

Dear Residents and Families,

As always, our team and I hope this email finds you safe and healthy.

Beacon Brook Health Center was notified today of a resident who tested positive from our weekly COVID testing. We have not had any recent positive results for staff. We will continue testing and reporting at regular intervals as required by CMS, CDC and DPH.

We are reminding our staff to not only practice safeguards against COVID in our center, but to be vigilant outside of our center and share these practices with their friends and loved ones. We still ask you to do your part while in your community and PLEASE wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. And please promote these very simple precautions with your extended family and friends.

We have been notified that a vaccine will be available to skilled nursing facilities soon, possibly the end of December.  We will keep you informed on the availability of this vaccine to our residents and will be sending out consent forms in the near future.

Some updates

Our Recreation staff are currently decorating the facility for the holidays.  In preparation for our Holiday Fair “on wheels”, residents are making crafts for the shopping cart.

  • We have ample tablets assigned for our residents to use for virtual visits, games, tele-health visits, news updates, etc. Many of our residents are enjoying learning how to use this technology and having the world at their fingertips.
  • Our Resident Ambassador is available 5 days a week to provide additional support and visitation to our residents.
  • As we are not able to conduct group activities, our recreation dept is providing individual activities as well as social visits to all residents.

This week’s activities include: Hallway Bingo, Button Tree craft, Glamor Nails, Elf the Movie, Afternoon Chats and Rosary, to name a few!

As always, thank you for your patience and our entire team extends our warm wishes for a happy and healthy Holiday Season!
